I am looking for some load data for the 30-378. What bullet and powder are you using for long range shooting? Just looking for some ideas for a starting point. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

Hi I've been loading this caliber now for three years. I've used 180grs Barnes X, 200grs nosler Part, and 180grs Parts. I've used these with H870--H5010-RL22-IMR7828-H1000. I've found that powders like IMR7828 and H4831 are a little to fast. I,ve developed a load around the 200gr Nosler part. 113grs H870--Fed215 OAL 3.790 & a Weath case. Vel runs 3239ft/sec and accuracy is 1 MOA. Good long range load. Another load i've used is 180gr Barnes XLC--117grs H870 Fed215 OAL 3.790. Vel runs 3439ft/sec in my Mark IV.Accuracy is erratic although. maby be better in your rifle. I have also used H 5010 with these bullets, as well as H 1000, but H 870 is my hands down choise. I know this is a discontued powder, but if you act fast enough there is still some out there. As far as primers are concerned, I suggest the Fed 215. I have tried CCI 250, only to get hang fires. Funny, because Ken Waters in his testing of the 270 Weath mag for his Pet load series had the same results. I've also found that you must start very low and work up very carfully, because pressure happens fast. Example: Barnes manuel #2 gives a starting load of 113grs of H 870 with their 200gr X, and a max load of 118grs. Well in my rifle 113grs is the max safe load. 118grs would probly destroy my rifle, so be careful.

Iam reloading this caliber for five years now,I shoot at least 500 rounds with more or less accurate result.I have tried a lot of powders/bullets combinations(using Hodgdon data be aware that theirs max loads are "hot").Powders as H-50bmg,H-870 with bullets 180grs and 150grs no good accuracy,Primer federal 215 are too "hard"getting in(needs to enlarge primer socket hole),using cci 250 solve the problem. The only way I can obtain accuracy is sorting out cases that can group, the rifle can get two rounds almost in the same hole, the third one(cooling down the barrel)dosnt seem to group with the others two(1"more or less). My load is H-4831sc,(102.5grs),CC250,COL3.635",Hornady 150 grs interlock(3031).I use both FL and neck sizer to reload(RCBS)
