Posted this on the Medium bore forum also, but there is some load intel..... Well, I got to the range with my new Cooper in .270 Winchester, and all I can say is wow! I had removed the action from the stock, and figured out enough about the trigger to lighten it to right at 3 lbs., and cleaned it up a bit, it felt great. I stuck it back together, and tightened the action screws to 65 in/lbs. I shot one 3 shot group at the end of my range day with this rifle, as I figured I would be just tuning in my Cooper. Well long story short, it is one of the best groups I ever shot, I'm not even sure how to measure it really, it's just a tad over caliber size in total, 3 shots-- and just call me a wuss, but I just couldn't shoot it anymore that day. I guess it's like shooting 4 under on the front nine, and then just not playing the back nine! The loads were virgin Nosler brass, 58 gr. 4831 SC, and CCI LR primers, and Nosler factory 2nd 130 gr. Accubonds. Just set up the rounds to clear the magazine with a fair bit of room in the magazine, and don't even know how far off the lands I am. Boresited in a 3x10x42 Swaro, Talley rings. Damn, what will I do if the load actually shoots worse the next few rounds--only downhill from here right?! I was actually aiming at the bottom bull, so the POI is about 3 inches high, and I guess I could tweak the windage At any rate, the Cooper handles recoil well, not that it is a huge issue in a .270, but relatively it is great. I think this is going to be a regular to the field......

OK, Fish, your posts convinced me I needed a Sako 85, and now I need a Cooper! My wife is going to get mad at you. Kidding of course (about the wife not the Cooper). Glad to see you've found such a Gem. Great shooting!............DJ ....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!..................

Darn nice rifle and some AMAZING shooting. You will have the guys who shoot BenchRest adjusting their Pace Makers! ----- "Nosler factory 2nd 130gr Accubonds" - I wonder what the 1st-s would have done? ----- There goes the old "I need a new Load!" excuse when Hunting.

Thanks guys, I know a lot of it is just pure luck, but the rifle has to be pretty competent to allow you to get that lucky! I like the whole rig, it handles well and looks good to me. You know DJ, it's always good to have someone to blame a new purchase on! HC, sometimes I wonder what is 2nd on some of the Noslers, sometimes it's obvious--like wrong color plastic tip, or weights off more than a few grains, but I shoot a lot of really good groups with the 2nd in NBT's and AB's doing load development. I figure the firsts would have gone into about an inch, the 2nds probably helped with the 'fluke' factor! I looked at the barrel on this rig with my borescope and it sure is smooth, I think it's a keeper.

i got my hands on one of the new cooper magazine fed in 30:06 a month or so ago. The thing shot about a .3 group at 100, with 7 shots mixed between 150 nosler BT's and 165 gr partitions. decided to keep the gun

I hear you Butch, although I got a note or two from folks who aren't impressed, I am, and I just like the rifle all around. It probably won't be the last one for me.....

Encourage them to post their groups - we can probably spot the Powder Burns. I meant to mention before that Joe Cullison(of Nosler) had posted some time ago that he used Nosler 2nds to win a lot of Matches. I'd guess he could have used "ANY" of the Nosler Bullets he wanted.
