How often do you stop and weigh a powder charge when using a progressive press i.e. after 100 rounds, 500 rounds, etc. Thanks.

I don't load rifle ammo on my progressive, but I have loaded a fair amount of straight walled pistol ammo and I weigh a charge every 20 or 25 rounds. As the powder hopper level drops the charges increase incrementally and it needs to be tweaked to keep up. I read (think it was in the owners manual for my Hornady LNL AP) that every tenth charge should be weighed but I have not found the need for that. I only use ball powders that flow well in the AP. I have a Hornady Pro Jector and load many pistol calibers on it. I weigh the charges to set the measure, and never weigh after that. The settings don't move; I use a Dillon measure that has slides in it; not the rotary type. Most of my loads are used for cowboy shooting and they work great. My charges do not creep up as the powder level goes down more than the normal .1 grain variation that the measure gives anyway.
