| I buy some stuff online and some from local shops. Pick one or two that have the best help and good prices and spend some money in them to keep them open. Online or gunshows are great for some stuff, a press kit or a couple of thousand bullets from the same lot. In one week I bought an electric case trimmer and 3 way cutters from Midway and ended up in a shop to get a new deburring tool because I couldn't find mine (Still can't.) Powder and primers can kill you on shipping. Especially if you want a pound of two or three different powders to work with or regular and magnum primers from different places. I got back into loading in fall of '08. I've been working with stuff I picked up between 2000 and 2004 so I've been lucky to find stuff as I need it, like 8 lbs of Varget I bought before they finished changing the price on the shelf. Went from $128 to $164 that morning. I've spent more than $36 in cleaning supplies since in the same shop. I guess what I'm getting at is you have to support your local shops or you'll end up doing all your shopping online. As for some other online suppliers try Powder Valley and Natchez Shooters Supply. Use yahoo to search for stuff too, like "winchester .308 brass". Some of the other boards will even post which company had what in stock when they ordered it.
A bad day at the range is better than a good day at work.

| I stopped in at Sportsman's Warehouse this afternoon and took a quick lap around the store. I could not believe how fully stocked the reloading supply area was. It was back to the pre-Obama days with every primer, bullet, and powder that was manufactured and very deep on the shelves.
The prices have retreated some, but those have not come down to the pre-Obama days and most likely will never make it down to those levels.
If you have a Sportsman's in your area I would make a visit. |

| If Midway doesn't have it, chances are no one else does either. I use Graf & Sons first. Midway is higher on the shipping but usually has more in stock. Natchez has good prices but very high shipping unless you are ordering a lot. +1 on Sportsmans Warehouse. I used to get most of my components there until they went belly up in Texas. Bob |

| For loading supplies, I go to Natchez site first, and if they don't have it I go to Midway. I rarely have to go farther than Midway to get what I want. Brass is a slighly different issue. Many times I go straight to Huntingtons.com for brass as they seem to have every chambering available at most all times.

+1 We need to support our local dealers. If we lose them we will be sorry we can't find some last minute thing or special order item. Rant off muck |

We have one in Reno. It's a pretty good store. Usually has everything you're looking to find. We also have a Cabela's and the huge Scheels, which they tell me is the largest all-sports store in the world. It is big at 65,000 square feet. They have hundreds of guns on open display at Scheels. You can pick up and leave fingerprints all over the rifles and shotguns to your heart's desire. Until recently, the handguns were in glass cases. Now they are in perforated metal cases. They say they did it to keep somebody from doing a smash-and-grab robbery. I don't like the obscured view of the guns, but it is what it is. Widener's Reloading and Shooting Supply in Johnson City, TN seems to always have FMJ bullets in our favorite calibers. They ship in USPS flat-rate boxes. You can easily get three 500-count bags of .224 FMJ into a medium-size flat-rate box. That's just $11 for shipping of about 20 pounds. Go for it! |

| Cary, if your local shop is unwilling to carry at least the most popular items than it's his loss. Another internet option is to get two or three more people together with you and place large orders and split shipping and hazmat fees. I'm not trying to trawl for another site but www.snipershide.com has members in different areas who do group buys.

Well, when you shoot like this: quote: Originally posted by Cary Howard: this rifle is a M96 Swedish Mauser with iron sights. My first 5 round group at 100 yards was under 1/4 inch MOA and my 2nd 5 round group was at 200 yards and it measured 1/2 inch.
You can't expect anyone to keep that kind of stuff on the shelves very long!

| one more thing some of you might try. i buy all the loading components from an estate when i can. helps the people out, is cheap, and i sell off what i don't use, which generally pays off the buying price |
