Small base dies
Hey guys! What is the purpose of "small base dies"? Is it a full sizer? Or to be used with a neck sizer?Made for semi's with tight chambers? Thanks in advance, Rayzor25

Yes the standard press type small base dies are full length dies that are on the small side of saami specs and are for autos and lever guns and others without the force of a bolt to seat the reloaded cartridge in the chamber....they are not always needed for all of these guns...just as you say the large chambered ones....I'm told that some of the PPC "small base" dies don't do the shoulder or neck and just do the base of the case to keep them fitting the fireformed chamber size.....good luck and good shooting!!!

I've used the SB dies for a BLR 81 & a Win M88, both in 308 Win. They did help in smoothing the chambering process.
