I;ve got one very similar to what you describe. Maybe I won't rebarrel it to 9.3 after all! It has shown it will shoot, but haven't worked on an accuracy load yet. Only problem is a canoe paddle stock. But the action is beautiful.

Paul,
The day I hear a dead deer complain about how the stock on my hunting rifle looks I'll trade my orange hat for a white one and take the head cook's job at the cracker factory. Big Grin As to what my hunting buddies have to say, if you have a minute, go to http://gunloads.com/index.php and you can read the article on my Old Canoe Paddle.
I do know one guy who has a fancy (really fancy) walnut stock that his rifle only wears in the gun case - when hunting it has a fiberglass one, so he has the best of both worlds. Pretty is for display. But truly beautiful is a tiny and repeatable group and meat in the freezer. Besides, if you ever break a paddle, like me you can take comfort in the fact that you already have a spare handy. BOOM
