VihtaVouri 550 doesn't cut it in my .308Win. It's a great powder, and this is the only caliber where it comes up a bummer. I use it in a Browning Micro Medallion with a 20" barrel. With 45.3 of VV550 I get groups of 1.313" (5shots/100yds) when using Lapua 167gr. HPBT and seated out to 2.805". With 46grs. of VV550 and Sierra 168gr. HPBT the rifle prints 1.382". It seems to me both of these should be excellent loads, but so far that hasn't been true. Of course the pencil thin short barrel doesn't help. Best wishes.

I have had good luck with N550 and the 165 Sierra BTHP GameKing in two 308's. I use 47.1 gr. of N550 in Win. brass, Fed 210M primers to produce 2765 fps avg. velocity from 24" barrels. Accuracy is in the .5 MOA range. The load shows no pressure in either of my 308's.
