Are these bullets designed to expand similar to rapid expansion bulets like the Ballistic Tips? I worked up a very accurate load with 150gr .308 bullets @2150fps 15ft from the muzzle. I would like to use them for Whitetails out to 150 yards, but, I don't have any info on them. Thanks

You probably picked the most controversial bullet ever made, to ask about. First off, they are a lot older than 30 years. I remember Elmer Keith was bitching about their poor performance clear back in 1946, and probably before....that's SIXTY years ago, folks. Second, They had a reputation for working perfectly some of the time, then either blowing completely apart OR going through the game with no more expansion than an ice-pick. the word was that one could never tell WHICH of the three to expect. I'd guess they probably did more than any other single bullet to get John Nosler to design and bring out his "Partitions".... Maybe they have changed in recent years, but I suspect not. I can't imagine any cup and core bullet not being adequate for deer at 2150MV. That's 250FPS less than a 30-30 win w/ 150s. I would be more worried about them not doing enough damage at that velocity than doing too much. Good Luck Reloader

My experience with a 150 gr. in a 30:06 proved to be extremely explosive, even more so, than the ballistic tip. They always put a whitetail down immediately with very extensive tissue damage. It is possible they may do better than most other other choices at the velocity you are talking about, but I just dont have experience with a reduced load and that bullet. You could alway use a 30:30 bullet.

Yup, that is my concern. I thought it might be a good choice at lower velocities, but, now I am concerned about some of the comments that it may expand or it may pencil through. Thanks
