Can anyone suggest a load for the .308 Win. for use in a T/C Encore pistol?(deer, boar) I load .308 for rifle, but am not sure what pressures the T/C will handle.
What can I reasonably expect in the way of M.V.? Best bullet weight? Bullet type?
Hope someone here can help.

I shoot both the 130 and 150 grain Barnes XLCs out of my factory 15 incher. I have used both W748 and Hodgdon BLC2. The BLC2 gave me the best groups. I don't own a chrony yet but that will soon change. I found for my particular barrel I had to seat even slightly deeper that the Barnes reccomended .050" to get the best accuracy. I took two large whitetail does the same evening with the 130s and one expired in her tracks the other ran 20 yds

Tweesdad,

I've used RL15 with 125 grain Barnes-X in my Ruger M77 bolt gun in .308. Don't have the charge info close right this minute. The 4 whitetails I've shot with that bullet all dropped within 30 yards of where they were standing.

An Encore in .308 sounds like a dandy deer/hog gun. A nice thing about the .308 is that there are SOOOOO many powders that will work well. I place RL15 and W748 at the top of the heap, but AA2520, AA2460, TAC, H380, any 4895, 4320, 4064, and many others will do the job.
