I do not know if this has been brought up on this forum before. The brass hornady uses for it leverevolution ammo is shorter than standard. The 45-70 and 450 Marlin are about .060 shorter and 444 Marlin is almost a 1/4" shorter.

In the case of the 444 marlin that is very much a difference. cal30 If it cant be Grown it has to be Mined! Devoted member of Newmont mining company Underground Mine rescue team. overall length is very critical in a lever gun. The shorter case allows for the longer LE gummy bullet. Got to play games to get everything to fit.

Very much agree with the above post. The Beartooth bullets I used for the 444 were seated very deep. Because of the wide meplat it's necessary. Seated any longer and it woudn't feed. The new gummy-bear-tipped bullets are quite long. I suspect the loss in case capacity hinders some of its potential. Don't know why you couldn't seat those deeper and just use a lee factory crimp to hold it in place... You can't by the gummy bullets alone though right? Maybe try pulling them from factory ammo and experiment w/longer cases?? I sadly sold my 444P but that's what I would try.

I don't understand why the bullets aren't just seated deeper, what would that change? Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

I believe the 30-30 at least is seated deeper, may not matter if the charge fits in, but I hate knowing bullet bases are below the shoulder.
