The Hodgdon marketing masters have come out with a powder that is catered to RUM, STW and 30-378 Weatherby shooters that is between H870 and H1000 called Retumbo. Lets see say the word Retumbo and then Remington Ultra Mag. Real peice of marketing work there.
These guys shock me. Was a new powder really needed. Was there that much of a gap between the two powders? I guess they was trying to hop on the bandwagon to make sure they get the biggest peice of the Ultra Magnum pie since its the hot round going.
Don't get me wrong, I love my RUM, but you can't even find too many Sendero's for sell that ain't chambered in the RUM rounds. I want to get a 270Win in Sendero, but have to get one used cause the only non magnum they make the gun in now is the 25-06.
Guess, I will have to try it out so I can take advantage of that 40-100FPS faster velocity??? I don't thing so.
hey if it honestly does make 40 to 100 fps more I would buy it. if it doesn't then I won't.
I just wonder how many guns might get blown up trying to make good on this claim.
some guy with a chrono that already has a too hot load with say h870 is gonna get some retumbo and try to stuff enough in there until he gets that 100 fps they were talking about. if they said it can do it then it can do it, pressure be damned.
"Retumbo" means thunder in a African language, witch language it is I can�t remember. A guy from Hodgdon I run in to during a pighunt in Australia last year told me the story.

I was hoping somebody would come out with a powder between H1000 and H870. These powders have significantly different burning rates. An overbore wildcat that I use really only works with H870 and H50BMG another powder near H870's burning rate would be welcome especially if it gives more constistent velocities than H870. With these overbore cartridges it will give us another choice.
hey people shouldn't complain. they just gave you another choice whether it was needed or not. choice is good, people vote with their dollar. if it sells and stays on the market then it was needed.
