Norma MRP = Re22 = Win WXR & roughly equal to W780. Re19 is just a bit faster and Re25 is a bit slower. MRP is one of the BEST high-energy slow burning powders on the market - maybe the best.

Norma 204 = Re19 Norma MRP-2 = Re25 Both subject to the usual lot to lot variations in both lines.

The Norma line of rifle powders and most of the Alliant line of rifle powders are made in Sweden by Bofors. Norma MRP is the same spec powder as RL-22, not RL-19 which is the same spec as N204. These lines of powders are infamous for greater than average lot-to-lot burning rate variations. You can interchange MRP and RL-22 in essentially the same way you can interchange two different lots of either, ie., by backing off and working back to your original load watching pressure indications and velocity.

I heard that the MRP and MRP-2 have less variation than Reloder powders? Are they in fact the exact same? What a let down. Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

I know the Weatherby factory 338-378 loads that I shoot are very, very close from lot to lot and don't seem to be very temperature sensitive. That ammo is made by Norma. I haven't tried any of it for my hand loads as I get very good results with IMR 7828. The IMR is fairly temperature sensitive however. Ken.... I think I will try MRP-2 in my next 6mm Ackley barrel and 338 Lapua whenever it's done. Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

Not quite the same, but pretty close to RL22, which is not a bad thing, RL22 is my favorite magnum powder from 270 to 300 Win to 338 win to 340 Wby, I've gotten good accuracy, high velocity, and no pressure signs. Jl

I have both Norma MRP and Reloader 22. I have 5 one pound cans of MRP with 3 different lot numbers. These all load grain for grain with each other. I also have two one pounders of R-22 with different lot numbers. Both of these shoot grain for grain with each other, but not with the MRP. My lots of MRP out perform my R-22 in both velocity, accuracy. R-22 just can't keep up to MRP in the velocity and accuracy dept. If indeed they are the same powder, I don't see it.

Well I certainly am going to try MRP-2 now! Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

The lots of MRP that don't meet spec must go in the R-22 barrel "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.
