Here's the deal... I use a lot of AA 1680 in the .22 Hornet and the 7.62 X 39. That said I was wondering if the favored hornet powder LiL gun might not be suitable to loading the 7.62 specificly with Hornady 110 V-Max's. Of course the desire is to achieve relatively high velocity without too much pressure.

Hmmm...
Sounds like a plan. Might give Hodgdon a call and see what they have to say for themselves...

Well, my experience with Lil' Gun is kinda limited, and it is totally non-existant with the 7.62x39.

I would stick with something like:
RL-7 From 25.3 grains to 30.0 grains
CCI-200 Primer
With 110 graqin bullets.

Thanks Craigster & Steve. This is one of those times I will break trail I guess. The specific application is a Colt Light Sporter 16" which due to the gas system is going to prefer to keep pressures down while velocity hopefully goes up. As we all know, some ppowders will stand head and shoulders above others in unique applications. "Unique" now there's another iddea...
