I realy enjoy Nosler Partition in my .280Rem, both the 150 and 160grs.
My question is if anybody now how much the back-core lead weights in the 7mm Partition (140, 150, 160, 175grs)??

I have never bothered to try to weigh the rear end core of any Nosler Partitions, but I believe that Nosler claims that the rear of the bullets behind the partition generally weighes about 60% of the total bullet weight.

I can believe this, as I have seen any number of recovered Nosler Partitions that have lost virtually ALL the front portion, and the weight retention is usually around 65%.

It is not unusual to have Nosler Partitions retain about 65% of their original weight, though I have some that I recovered that retained over 80% fo the original weight. On the other hand, I recover darned few, most make exit wounds on the other side of the animal.

The new Partition Gold version has the partition moved forward slightly and has a steel cup around the lead core in the rear. The retained weight should be a little higher. I just have not shot anything with one.

I've never recovered a 7mm from an animal but as you saw in the test report, the recovered bullets weighed 116gr (72%). Pretty close to what the manuf. states & the only NP I ever recoverd from an animal was a 210gr/.338, it weighed 168gr (80%).
