Whatever do you mean by "cannot get them to group"? Patterns up to 12 moa? 6 moa? 1 moa?

lets put it this way, if my handloads don't shoot 1moa at 100 yards, its not grouping. right now im at 1.75. not good. On a good day my sierra will go about .750

SOme barrels just don't like some bullets @ certain vel. My 338-06 will not shoot any 225gr bullet into less than 2" unless I slow them way down to 2550fps. I can get any 250gr to that vel & shoot 1moa. Most ohter 185gr-210gr bullets will also shoot 1moa. Rifle barrels are funny things.

You may simply have a bad batch of Hot Cores....

It happens with every mnanufacturer....it's why we buy and test several

Speer is dropping the core lock and going to a new bullet across the board called the "deep curl" I` would forget the HC bullet and find another choice.

Vines,

I run a Rem 700 CDL SF Limited in 260 Rem. It's had a little custom work; trigger, crown touched up, pillar/glass bedded and free floated and I'm VERY/EXTREMLY happy with it. One of the loads I developed to practice with is the 120 HC. I "drop" 66.2 clicks of Varget in Nosler cases capped with Fed 210 match primers. I say 66.2 clicks because I use a Harrells Premium powder meter and at the moment, I'm not sure what that means in weight. It hits 2750 in the 24" barrel. My 3-shot, 100 yds groups run 1/2". My OAL is 2.830"; just barely fits my mag. If you're dedicated to keep trying the 120 HC, try Varget.

I use a lot of Speer bullets...

I've always noticed, they seem to have a lot more QC or demands on their varmint bullets than they do their hunting bullets..

If I can't get a Speer hunting bullet to shoot regardless of caliber, usually dropping the velocity down, tightens the groups right up..

There are other 120s out there anyway..why know yourself out trying to get one to shoot, which will probably take the entire box or two you have to find the 'sweet spot'...

I have a 260rem in a Browning A-bolt. it does not like the Speer bullets either. I does however LOVE the Sierra 140 gr Gameking. (.430 group was the best) With an average of .563 (out of the box, nothing done to it)

All that said, in general, my gun likes all 140 gr stuff better that 120 gr. May want to try some.

Some rifles do not like some bullets. Live with it. 1.75 ain't no shabby hunting group tho. If you want to shoot Speers, learn to live with that. have you tweaked your load around? or did you just switch bullets?
If you've some other good hunting bullets that do group to suit you, I wouldn't angst about it too much. That's why most reloaders have a closet full of partial boxes of bullets. Use them to fire form some brass or for practice. Smiler

That's just the way it works sometime.

I have the same rifle you have in 260 it shoots 100gr Nosler BT and 120gr partitions the best the others I use for practice bullets.

I have not tried the Speer 120s yet, so if you decide to try something else, PM me and let me know what you want for them. I might buy them.
