Try RL22 and see how it does. I am not at my bench right now but I think I was loading approx 75-76gr of RL22 with 180gr Sierras.

I'm happy with 180grn Hornady interlock, 71.5grn RL-19. Should be just shy of 3000fps. That load does .8"-1" at 100yrds in my stock Ruger M77 mII.

180 grain Hornady #3070, with 71.5 gr. IMR4350, sparked by Fed. 215 primer; but start below and work up, as this is over some load data, and max. in my older sako. Velocity in my gun is 3,160 fps.

But. . . . what may work in one gun may blow a shotgun pattern in another.

76 grains of Rl-22 and Fed 210M primer is the load that 8 of my Elk hunting buddies beleave in and have used for many kills over the years. Approx. 3100 fps, depending on the rifle. Good shooting.

Reloder 22 was my go-to powder for many years with 180 btips and Speer bullets. I also found 7828 and H1000 to work very well. Of course I recall using 4350 a few times and found good accuracy. This was with a Ruger MK II and a Browning ABolt.

ive got two 300 mags a rem and a win and both do there best for accuracy with re19 with both 165s and 180s. You may give up a couple fps over useing re22 or 25 or one of the other real slow powders but ill take 3/4 inch groups over an exta 100 fps anyday.

I also vote for RL 22 and Fed 210s.

I tried RL 25, 7828 and forgot what else but settled in on the 22. Very accurate and good velocity. Good luck.

Thanks everyone, I think I try the RL22 and 4350 with 210 primers since I have them on hand.

180gr Grandslam 73.5grs IMR4350

200gr Grandslam 71grs Imr 4350

These aren't red line loads but they're pretty stout.

I've had good luck with H4831 in 4 300 Win Mags at our house.

RL-22 is also a highly recommended powder for this caliber.

Best load for me is 83 grs. Re25, 180 Accubond. Accurate and fast (3300 fps/26" barrel), but this is MAX! Work up to it. AIU

Sorry, I reversed the loads between the 180 and 200gr bullets. I edited the post to reflect the correct charge.

I'm currently using IMR7828 pushing 180 gr Barnes TSX bullets out of my 300 Win Mag.

75.5 grs RE22, WLR or WLRM primer, 180 Hornady SPs, very good load from my experience.

About 10 yrs ago my brother in law with more money than brains fell into a Rug #1 in 300Win Mag.for $350. It looked new but came with 50 fired cases, dies and a small bag of Bar.200gr X bullets. He asked me to look the gun over. I made up a case for my Stoneypoint system from one of his fired cases to see how far thos X bullets had to fit insde the case. With the bullets sitting 0.030" off the lands the back of the boattail was above the shoulder and into the neck. I'am saying to my self--someone recut the throat for the 220gr Xbullets. There is sure a lot of room let in the case if the back half of the bullet is not in there. I told him it was safe and shootable and if he didn't like it I would buy it off him for what he had in it. Found out a month later he went out and bought a box of factory 150gr-shot it - could not hit 1' rock at 500yds off hand like he was told by the guy that sold it to him- sold it to one of his golf buddys for $250. I told him to not ever say the word "gun" or talk about shooting around me.

I have had really good luck with H1000 in my 300's (with 180 grain lead-core bullets).

I now have to go lead-free and come up with all new loads. I just loaded up some 150 grain TTSX's with roughly the same powder charge as I used with the 180's, as they take up the same space. We'll see how they do.
