I need some youth load data for a 30-06 with 125gr bullets. I have tried H-4895 but not real happy with it and would like to try something different. Thanks

You might also do a search for SF's Bluedot loads for reduced velocity.
Hi AC. Was in Gettysburg this summer past. It was motorcycle weekend in July. I wasn't a biker. The battlefield was fascinating. Devil's Den was real interesting. So was both ends of Pickett's Charge. It is really neat to actually see a place you have read so much about.
Cheers.

The current issue of HandLoader magazine, February, 2009 (No. 258), has an article on reduced loads; they list four for the 30-06 with a 125gr. Speer TNT: 26.0 gr. of RL-7 for 1899 fps.; 26.0 gr. of H-4198 for 1831 fps.; 16.0 gr. of Unique for 1889 fps.; 16.0 gr. of Green Dot for 1909 fps.
At these velocities, they suggest using 30-30 bullets for hunting. Sierra has one. Nosler's 125gr. BT will probably work also.

With the 125gr. bullet in 30-06,and energy levels close to 30-30, you might try:
27.5 gr. SR4759.
28gr. IMR4227
26gr. 2400
34gr. ACCUR. 1680
24.5gr. Blue Dot
If you use this info please start low and work up. Make sure that you are not throwing double loads or suffering from dispenser hang ups. Suggest that you weigh and hand dispense each load or measure powder column height with a graduated dowel rod or some other process that is equally or better protective. roger

Check the Lyman Cast Bullet handbook for loads using IMR3031, IMR4198, and RL7 to start 125-150s in the 2200-2500 range. In his _Pet Loads_ volumes Waters called these "30/30'06" loads...
