I tried out the R23/.270/150 NBT load today. I had prepped some Winchester brass I shot in the factory loads last week. I used a Redding SH .006" to resize. BR2 primers. I set the .030" off the lands as the 130 Hornady does well there. Just 3 shots for three loads, since I was pressed for time;

56gr went .62 cloverleaf hit in exact +2"@100 zero set for my 110TTSX load.

57gr opened to .93 ( 1.1: widest) rounded group and same zero too.

58gr tightened up again and was .52" cloverleaf, but +2" and 1" left. It had a harder bolt lift, and I really think its because it needs to be resized down more to start out, maybe the .002" Redding SH. Primer still looked rounded edges, no marks on the case head. I'll try it again later, sized down more and shoot 5rds, clock them too. I can use any of them since I am not a LR hunter, preferably 300 or less. Way less "really" preferred, ha.
This is quickload data and the 58gr is right at 64K. Speed is guestimated at 2930 for a 24" barrel. My rifle is 22" I would bet the 56gr is still real close to 2900fps. I am not "hung up" on 3000+ fps for a 150 as I have a great 160NP/R26 load for elk. But the long 150 NBT should buck the winds out here fine for deer and antelope. I have a fine 110TTSX load for antelope/deer too, but its nice to have options.

Jim, A harder bolt lift means about max pressure. Tread lightly.

You bet, I hear you. I am going ot resize them down a hair more and try the load again. Hopefully I can set up my chronograph then too. The only range I have available now has been "discovered" by some more younger guys. Every time I've gone, this summer its busy. The Range Officer is a Drill Sgt wannabe too. Lord help me! ha

We have a couple of drill sergeants.
I try to get there as soon as it opens and stake a claim.
We have a state run range just a few miles from me and as long as you follow the rules your ok.
I used H4831SC and 140gr spbt for years. I got a bug a couple years back and tried H100V by Hodgdon
getting 3025f/s, I only shot a 10 shot string.
The H4831SC was almost 3100f/s. Bothe were 140gr spbt Hornady.
I have a box of 150gr noslers but I have not tried any of them.
The 140gr bullet does a great job on deer

Alliant lists 57.5 as a max load with 150 gr. bullet. I am using Re23 with 130 gr. bullets and it gives me the best accuracy of anything I have tried in my M70.
