IMR7828 and the newer SSC is a very well established Magnum rifle powder. It has use's as well in many other ,smaller caliber rifles. It has a proven a fine powder in .30-06 for many years.

IMR 7828 SSC is on the slow side for some rifle cartridges, but because its small grains pack tightly, you can get a lot of it into a case.
I find that it requires about 2-3% more (by weight) than H4831 for similar velocities and does well in any cartridge/bullet combination in which H4831 is suitable. With "non-magnum" cartridges this is usually with heavy-for-caliber bullets.
I have found some excellent loads using 7828SSC for .243/100, .25-06/115, .270/130, .280/150, .300 H&h/180. It is also very good in .300 Win, 7mm RM, etc. The short grains feed quite dependably and accurately through my Redding powder measure.
I also like IMR 4007, which is also a short-grained powder. Applications using 4064, 4320, or 4350 are usually adaptable to 4007.
