Since there is a LOT of this powder (H50BMG) for the really big 50. Has anyone tested it in any of the larger NE cartridges? It does albeit burn quite slowly and with low pressure which might prevent its application, but sine most are unable to obtain our favorite powders, it might be of possible value.

I've tried most of the powders available in the 577 but not 50BMG. It is too slow to get proper velocity out of it and you would probably have lots of unburnt powder left in the barrel. This causes lots of issues getting all down in the action. RL-15 and RL-17 have worked really well plus Hybrid 100V. I've been able to find plenty of RL-17 and Hybrid 100V.

Thanks Sam,
I know R15 works well, but can't find much around here in FL. We don't have any of the big outfits, but have been eyeing Powder Valley and others. They all seem to have the 50 cal powder , and that is what primed my interest. Given that these big bores are hard to light, but seem to like the slower burns, I thought I would check.

If you go to Michael458s B&M site under addictional research you can look at the 577 data he and I worked up for my doubles. RL-22 was the slowest powder I think we used and it worked pretty good. Kicked a lot worse than the faster powders. The next time I work with my 577 I'll be glad to try and work up some loads for 50BMG as I do have some.

Sam, I'll look up his web,and it would be interesting to see what the powder would do. I saw it yesterday for I think $19.95 per LB. That's cheap, plus it is available in 5 LBs to boot.
