Would like to hear some reports on how this powder[BLC(2)] is performing in the 30-30. I have bought some of this and will put the lid on the IMR 3031 for now, so I can try it out. In the mean time, does anyone else have any experience with this powder and the old 30-30? Thanks David

No I don't. I have never bought any BLC-2 because of the awesome muzzle flash that this powder is said to produce. Sean

I've been using it in my .25-35, but sticking with old-reliable IMR 3031 in the .30-30... Sorry. It does ok in the .25-35. The barrel shoots a bit better than average or factory ammo when so loaded. However, and I can't put my finger on why, I just don't get a real warm and fuzzy with BLC2. That could be a whole other topic, "the aesthetics of powder". But it works fine.

LoneEagle, Where did you hear about the muzzle flash? I am using a 24" barrel so the muzzle flash may not be as bad as what it is with a 20" barrel Hobie, Thanks for the first hand info. If the powder shoots better, why aren't you crazy about it? David

I've been using RL15, I think 34 grains with the 170 Hornady for 2130 fps. My model 94 was a 3" rifle with factory loads, shoots this load 1.25" at 100 yards with an old Foolproof peep sight. some groups are in the 1" range.

JS Stevens, I have some R15 I use for the 375 H&H. I was going to try it as well. Funny how the same powder can be used in the 30-30 and 375 Same with 4198 in the 45-70 and 222 rem. ...the wonders of smokeless powder... David

I don't think it was in relation to the 30-30 but I do know that Ken Waters mentioned that problem with a .350 Rem Mag and others have talked about it with similar cartridges. I always look at the powders I buy and try to pick ones that have the broadest possible application for me. I don't buy a powder to load one cartridge I try to buy one that I can load multiple cartridges with, thow I may have 3 or 4 on hand that will do the same job, but most of my powders seem to be in about the same range like 4064, H-335, IMR-4198, 3031 etc. Enough rambling. I will see if I can locate some quotes/sources for my muzzle flash statementfor you. Sean

LoneEagle, I know what you mean about multiple use powders. That is what I love about H4831sc!! Calibers fueled be 4831: 270 win 30-06 300 win mag 243 win 265 win mag But like the 44 mag and Hercules 2400, I am trying to find my 30-30's magic powder. Thanks again! David

Chainsaw, that is not a bad price for 8 pounds of powder. Thanks for the info. David
