I typically shoot 180 grain Nosler in 300WSM for elk. However, to reduce cost, eating up my retirement shooting so much, I am considering the Hornady interbond, more bullets less cost to this old one. Also considering the 165 grain, little softer on the old shoulder, maybe a little flatter shooting and little more range, the old bod does'nt have to sneak as far or as hard. If you all think it is a bad idea, I guess I can suffer a little longer.

I don't have any experience with the Interbonds as yet. For what I have heard they are very close to the Partitions and work well for high-speed bullets at close range. The advantage is lower cost and potentially better accuracy. Your are on the right track and I am with you. I will order the 130 gr for my .270 and 150s and 165s for my 300 WM. It will take me 2-3 week to develop the loads. Seven more months before our deer season - a long way to go before I can try them out. Cheers! Danny Boy

I used a 165gr Hornaday Interbond in a 30-06 to take a wild hog this past weekend. Shot was @ 150 yds, impact was behind right shoulder slightly low. Pig stumbled for a couple yards and went down, end of story. Exit wound was about 2" dia., very little meat damage. Muzzle velocity on the load I use is right at 2800fps.with very good accuracy. Live weight of the pig was estimated @ 250lbs. I have no qualms about using this bullet on future hunts.

A friend used a Mod 70 featherweight, 300wsm with 165IB this past season and took an elk at a little over 400yds (laser ranged) which fell with a single shot. He also took an antelope at a similar range with the same result. Finally, he took a whitetail under 100 yds, again one shot-dead animal. The bullets apparently opened up at this variety of distances and still held together at <100yds. Seems like a good bullet. I have some 139gr IB loaded up for a 7rum that I probably am going to take to South Africa this Sept. Hope this helps.
