I am using 68.0 grs. of RE 15 with Fed 215 and seating the bullet .020 off the lands. I am getting around 1" with this load. I will use this combination on a late season cow hunt in 3 weeks and I'll let you know how the bullet performs. During initial load developement I tried H414 but this powder did not group as well. If I had more time before the hunt I would have liked to try IMR 4350 but the RE15 did well within minute-of-elk so I just stayed with it. The recoil is minimal as well. This is the only bullet I've tried in this rifle and I can't wait to try some 210 Partitions. C-ROY

My old standby with the .338 is some original surplus 4831, which is some bit slower than the current crop of 4831's on the market -- actually, almost as slow as IMR 7828. It has done well with bullets of 200 grains and heavier, but my preliminary work with the 180 grain Nosler BT indicates that a faster powder is needed. I'm going to try VV N160 first, since I have a quantity of it, but any of the 4350's, H-414 or WW 760, RL-19 and other powders in that range should be useful.
