You should be fine at those speeds. I have a 200 gr gc mold in 35 caliber, and it was awhile before I got around to getting gas checks. I decided I had nothing to loose loading them sans gas check in my 35 whelen, with a mild charge of pistol powder. Acuracy is just as good as w/ the checks and I had no leading. I'd suggest ~7 gr unique, or 12 gr 2400, should be just the ticket.

Maybe, You need to try it. I have had little success using gas check bullets without gaschecks. I guess it depends on you accuracy standards. Be sure the bullets are a close fit to the throat or gas can blow past and erode the bullet and lead the barrel.
