What are some good .223 loads with this powder? I just picked up an 8lb jug of it and I have a bunch of moly'd bullets in various weights.

Thanks!

Normally a2200 has given good results in many rifles I've reloaded. The only results with the .223 haven't been great so far. 20 grains of 2200 behind 50 to 55gr. bullets has been dismal. 2" groups at 100 yd. has been tops. roger

Good powder, just broke into my last jug. Far as I know, it's no longer available. Wish I'd bought more when I had the chance. I use it in 222 and 223. 23-24 grains in the 223 with 50 or 55 grain bullets works well for me. I'm using 22.5grs with 50gr Rem PLHP's in the 222, very accurate in the 2 I have.

Been using a straight 25 grains in mil cases, BR primers, and 40 gr Hornady or Nosler bullets. Shoots fine in three different .223s

AA published extensive data on loading 2200, as a supplement to their regular book. If you contact them, they will likely e-mail or snail mail it to you.
I have used ~11lbs of it so far, and still have 2+ jugs to go!
I use 24.5 gr behind mollied 53gr MK in my AR, and those loads are used in 100yd HighPower competition. Excellent accuracy.

Craigster - When you run out give me a shout.

Please don't anyone quote me, but I think this stuff is from the Czech republic back when they were respectable members of the Warsaw pact.

Thanks John! You're right about the origin. It's Czech surplus or pulldown, the original loading was 7.62x39. It has quite a few other applications as well.

According to my contacts at AA, it was manufactured by Synthesia (SP?) in what is now the Czech Republic, for the East Germans. They had a policy of keeping a reserve supply of bulk powder sufficient for two years of their military needs, and surplused/replaced that stock every two years. On reunificiation with West Germany, and conversion to NATO ammo standards, it was no longer required. So, AA bought it as a one-time purchase on the surplus market. It sold out very quickly and I do not know of any plans to ever contract another batch from Synthesia.
