I was a little worried that I'd spent a bunch of money on these fancy X bullets. It wasn't warranted.
With
74gr of RL-22
WLRM primer
seated to 3.300"
in my WinMag I got a .308" 3-shot group. First shot 2" over point of aim, 2nd shot right of that, edges touching. 3rd shot split the difference, directly in between the first two. Someday I'll be able to chrony this, but I hope to be close to 3000fps. I also tried 73, 75 and 76gr loads, but those were all over the place.

Good thing these shot so well, or I'd have some very expensive copper turds laying around.

I hate to throw cold water on your success but, how many groups did you shoot with that 74 grain load. It seems wierd and scary that the one grain less and one grain more load "were all over the place". It reminds me of the time I finally got a 3/4" 5 shot group out of a very fussy browning bar. I "raced" home and loaded 30 more of that "magic" recipe and went back and it was all of a sudden a 2" shooter--just got a lucky group.
I DO HOPE you got the magic load. Sure sounds like the 168tsx has been shooting fantastic in many many guns. (just in case that was a lucky group with the regular barnes.)

I agree. But I hope you found the load.

I have to go along with Kraky in suggesting that you don't judge a load by one group.I have seen a few loads produce super groups that were never duplicated. If you can shoot another three consecutive groups even close to the first one you have probably found the load for your rifle.

I probably needed a reality check, but that doesn't make it any more fun. I'll be loading some more of these in the near future, along with a "magic" 200gr AccuBond load, better to be sure.

I shot a nice tiny .2something group with 130 grain x's in a 30-06 ONCE. I shot the rest of that box and one more trying to duplicate that group. I've found this very common with the X bullets. You can get great groups one day and terrible the following. Hopefully the triple shocks won't be so much trouble!

Question

165 XTB right? Not 168 TSX?
