Fast twist 22/250 Valkyrie eater
Just for fun I have put together a 22/250 with a 1 in 6 twist barrel on a Parker Hale action.
I have purchased some Barnes LRX 77 gn bullets
and have taken a throater to the chamber to allow me to seat them so that only the boat tail section protrudes below the base of the neck.
On a rough calculation this has raised the available capacity about 8-10% over a standard
reamer chambering (theses are very long projectiles).
I would be very grateful for some suggested load data.
Thanks

p dog shooterI thought about adding a fast twist barrel to my 22-250
The ballistics are interesting.

Slowpoke SlimI would have started with blowing that case out to an "AI" platform before I did anything else.
Brass will last longer taking out all of that taper to the body. Especially if you're going to be pushing it for max pressures.

butchloci made a 22/250 imp with a 8" twist with the intention of shooting 80 grain vld bullets - it does the job very well in shooting pd's way out there
Thanks Jgrabow6493
Just what I was looking for.
Cheers

Dans40XC4350 burn rate powders is my preference for the 1:8"tw Bbls that I've burnt out pushing 80's & 90's at 3200fps shooting OTC & 8,9 & 100yd prone matches since the mid 90's.

Kevin GulletteAt 3200fps, out of a 6" twist barrel, would exhibit a bullet rotation of 384,000 rpm, using a 0.224" diameter projectile.
Any thoughts/worries concerning bullet deformation and/or blow-up??
Just a thought.

AnotherAZWriterI put a fast twist bbl on my Swift; the difference between 80-90 gr bullets in the wind vs 50-55 has to be seen to be believed - like half the drift.

That's exactly what I built.
75 ELD-M's and 80 grain Custom Competition shoot like a champ over RL-23 powder.
