Has anyone measured the amount of powder in the Hornady Super Performance shells for the 35 Whelen? I would like to play with this powder and my whelen and need a starting point. Thanks. Optik1

Optik you seemed determined to connect Hodgdon Superformance powder with Hornady Superformance ammo. If you look at the entire Hornady ammo line you will notice that a wide range of cartridges are labeled with the Superformance name. That ammo begins with the 5.56 and .223 rounds and includes the .270 Win, 7mm Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag. These rounds cannot all be loaded to the maximum velocity levels with the same powder at safe pressure levels. Your assumption that Hodgdon Superformance canister powder is used in all of these is totally without reasonable logic. Your own test of Superformace in the .444 Marlin has already proved that once. Now you are trying the same logic with the .35 Whelen. If you evenutally try it in a 7mm STW or 300/378 Wby you may get hurt. Give it up man your reasoning is dangerous. Call Hodgdon let them tell you the truth.
