It took a lot of work for me to get my M-70 '06 to shoot well. Best load turned out to be 60 grains of H4831SC with 180 grain Remington Core Locks (of all things), Federal Match cases and 210M primers. S40

When the groups are from two to five inches with various loads the cause is usually the rifle, scope, shooter or all three. Many very accurate rifles will shoot almost any load well. In the 30-06 IMR 4350 and Sierra bullets are pretty much an accuracy standard. Many Hornady Interloks shoot just fine as well. I say it's not the ammo.

So far, I've gotten the best accuracy from 180Grn Sierra Game Kings on top of IMR-4831 with 57.2-57.4 grns of powder working best. 165Grn Partitions and 180Grn Ballistic Tips shoot about MOA, again using IMR-4831. Rifle is a BAR w/22" barrel, NO BOSS. These were shot at 100Yds. The dark squares are 1/2", light squares are 1/4". The group on the left is a 3 shot group. The two on the right are 4 shot groups. firstshot
