While assembling components for my 470NE I discovered that my RCBS Trim Pro case trimmer will not handle 470NE brass. Anyone out there have with a 470NE, how the heck do you trim the brass?

Head Trauma, I use a Forster "CLASSIC". It is a trimmer specifically designed for the big bores and nitro express rounds. It handles them nicely. but these calibers don't need trimming very often due to their low operating pressures and minimal brass expansion.

Get a Trim Die from RCBS....It is very important part of reloading for doubles IMO. Norma brass will need to be checked after every loading.

I agree with Roscoe. Get a trim die and use a file. I had to get one for my 500/416. I think that the brass is quite soft and flows easily. Failure to trim will result in failure to chamber.

In my very limited experience with the 470 it seems like the Norma brass stretches like a rubber band. It seems to form this short thin lip at the mouth several thousandths every time it is fired. Surprised me.

I think you do much better with Jamison(the old BeLL stuff). Cheaper, more durable, needs less frequent trimming than the Norma in my experience.

I use an L.E. Wilson case trimmer to do mine. One of the reasons I really like Wilson is they will make a case holder to fit just about anything you can dream up, for very few bucks.
