I am sure this has been covered, but I was unable to find anything. Would anyone have any loads for the 300WM and 168TSX? I have H4831sc, R-19 and R-22 on hand currently. Thanks

Is that 300 Weatherby Magnum or 300 Winchester Magnum?

I've always taken "300WM" to mean win mag...use the Re22, and it would be worth trying Re25 if you can get it. Second choice for me would be the 4831SC.

When I owned a 300winmag, I loaded a LOT of Re22, it just worked very well with 165 class and 180 bullets.

The best load I've found for that bullet was 74 gr IMR4831. That gun is a Sako Stainless Synthetic Model 75. I tried the RL22 but didn't get the accuracy. Tried IMR4350 and didn't do as well as the IMR4831.

RL19 would be the best choice of the powders you listed. Faster powders for lighter bullets.

I've a few boxes of the 168TSX around which I haven't gotten around to working up a load, but have just come of loading the 180TSX and am completely convinced that RL22 is the right powder for the 300win with the 180. 75.0 grains is my pet load for the 180 TSX.

My .300 Win Mag simply loves 168 grs TSX over a max book load of RL22 (I believe it is 79 grs??).

The load normally does not produce any pressure signs, but I found some of my cases had loosened primer pockets after having been fired under hot weather conditions (Africa). I'm going to try to switch to WW brass (from my regular Remington) to see if the WW cases can stand the pressure a bit better. Fired under colder conditions, I have not observed any pressure signs, and because the load shoots so well, I'm kind of leary to give it up.

Barnes manual no. 3 lists the following powders as preferred for the 300 Win Mag and this size bullet:

RL19 max 76.0 grains
H4831 max 78.0 grains
IMR4350 max 72.0 grains
MRP max 78.0 grains

Thanks, I had planned on R-19 and I think I will try that first. My gun is a Sako 75 SS in 300 winchester magnum. It shoots great with 200grain NP under 74grains of R-22 using Federal brass once fired thru my rifle. I just can't resist the urge to fiddle with it.
