I tried some of the Woodleigh 180 grain .308 bullets from Midway in my 300 Weatherby (83 grains Re25, CCI Mag primer) and accuracy was outstanding. Judging from point of impact I'd say velocity was higher than with partitions.
Has anybody tried them on big game?

While I've never ried them in .308 caliber, I've used them in .375 and .408 and .264. In my humble opinion, they are one of the best bullets available anywhere. Accuracy is always good, weight retention is outstanding and effects on game are always devastating.

They are just about all I use anymore.

I bought four boxes of the .308" 180gr Woodleigh Protected Points that MidwayUSA has on special for use in my .30-06. (The regular velocity ones; not the magnum bullets.) I haven't had a chance to load up any, however. I've been working with my 8x57.

Not the same bullet, but I did use the 220gr Woodleigh round nose in my .30-06 (handload at 2460 fps) in South Africa in 2002. I was very pleased with their performance.

Here's a photo of the recovered bullet from my Red Hartebeest. This was the second/finisher shot after the animal was down. My first shot had complete penetration and put him down. He was still alive when we got to him so I put a second/finisher shot into him. The second shot passed through the upper leg bone and smashed the heart. It came to rest under the skin on the opposite side.

Ditto Mac/PC/Bfaucett - I am also a Woodleigh fan, but I only use them in .416 and .458. I have shot a lot of big game with them. They maintain very good accuracy and exceptional terminal performance. I do not use them in mid or small bore because I have had nothing but great performance from Nosler Partitions and Partition Golds. They will be a little tougher than Partitions and A-Frames due to their construction. I am sure in a .308, they will perform well in the field, however, I do not have first hand experience with Woodleighs in this caliber.
