Anyone have any loading info on using WC 846 military surplus gunpowder and 58 grain v max bullets? In the .243 winchester catridge? Want to use these on Prarie dogs. Thanks: 8mmshooter

YES!!!!!!! 58gr. V Max, Hornady, 45.5 gr. Wcc846, FC brass, WLRM (mag.) PRIMER,oal=2.636" 10 shot 3/4"grp,50 yds. 4000fps. no pressure sign! Slightly sooty.M77 Ruger varmint.A lot of Kaabooooom. at 45gr wcc846 the the 10 shot grp opened up to1" but all of the later shots ,once the barrel was HOT, were in a 1/4" group. Again that was at 50 yds. You might find it interesting that with the same bullet and 25gr. of 2400 the 15 shot group was 3/4" and the barrel got only slightly warm. Velocity was 3207 to 3272 fps. That's sure a throat saver. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

WC 846 seemed a little inconsistent to me using 55 grain Nosler BT's; IMR 4895 was much better in my gun. But, as they say, your mileage may vary, so give Bartsche's recipes (properly reduced for trial work up) a try. On the other hand, I've had excellent luck with WC 846 in medium sized .30 calibers like .308, .300 Savage, .30-30, and even 8x57. WC 846 just seems to like a larger bore than .243, at least with the single lot that I have used.
