PA, With the improved version I'm getting 2935fps, 140gr partition over H4350, Fed 210 primer. I have a 22.5" bbl. Accuracy has been excellent. sure-shot
If you really want a 7mm-08 Impv. Let me recommend a cartridge I've been using for the last 32 years. Killed Bear in Alaska with it, Elk in Wyoming, Big Deer in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Wisconsin, Montana etc...etc. I have two very good custom rifles now in this caliber--Have my own reamers made so I can get the chamber and throat just like I want them and I can honestly say I have had a lot of experience with this truly wonderful cartridge. I tried the 7mm-08 Impv.and was very dissappointed. If you really want a real 7mm-08 improved, get a .284 winchester..Learn how to set it up and you will never be unhappy again!!!!!Cris
I've gone from the 7-08 to the 7-08 AI, I just love mine. It's primarily a paper puncher.... have shot it out to 1000 yds. I'm using RL-15, WLR primers, and Nosler 120 Bal-tip and Sierra 130 BTHP-M bullets. Both of these bullets will chrono to 3190 from my gun.
I have been shooting a 20inch Sako CPR rifle for years. I have shot it 3020fps with no signs of pressure. But for accuracy 2920fps with 140grn BTs. This is my hunting load it shoots in the upper 3s all day. All that in 20 inches of barrel.I think I will keep it. I also have a 280 ackley, I now have this gun set up for long distance (it does not see to much of the eastern woods now the 7-08 AI is used the most.
