I was reading on another thread that this is a ball powder. Obviously I've not personally used it but I like the ball powders in the smaller cases....223 to .257 Roberts.

Is this true...it's a ball powder? Have any of you used it in big cases like .30-06 to .375 H&H? What's the experience with it in cold or hot climes? I'd love to go to ball powders exclusively but getting away from the slower extruded powders has not been easy.

What's the opinions on this powder please?

Yes. It WAS a ball powder like WW780BR was. And I believe it has gone the same way, has it not?? (To the scrap heap of WW powders. Like so many of its' predecessors..... YES! Must be true. Just checked their web site, and the only rifle powders they still show are WW748, WW760, and WXR. WXR is a magnum slow-speed powder, but it is an extruded one. The only ball powders still shown are 748 and 760.)

Why bother to work up a load for a discontinued powder, unless you have at least 8 pounds of it??

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'll look hard at the Ramshot powders.

I still have 22 pounds of it. Last I've seen it for sale was about three months ago. I use it exclusively in my 280 Remington Ackley Improved.

Jackfish, I hunt the area around Wheeler Wisconsin most years and as I'm in your neck of the woods, is some of the powder for sale?

WMR and H-450 were different lots of the same powder. For some strange reason, they were both removed from sale at THE SAME TIME. My question is WHY? This was a good powder that gave excellent velocity and accuracy from my .300 Win. Mag. and .270 Win. I worked up my loads for both cartridges in the summer heat of Tucson Arizona. I've only chronographed the .300 mag. loads, but 3050 FPS with a 180 gr. Nosler and 2950 FPS with a 200 gr. Speer hot-core with absolutely no pressure signs. The 180 gr. load gave 1.0" on average and the 200 gr. bullet .75" from a rifle with a 26" barrel that is like a soda straw. The .270 gives .80" groups with the 150 gr. Sierra Game-king.
It strikes me as very strage that both powders would come off the market simultaneously. I do have a theory about the disappearance though, but it's not something I would like to air publicly. Fortunately for me, I still have a decent supply of WMR, although I wouldn't mind locating another 8 pound keg. That would probably supply me for the rest of my days.

vapodog, sorry the last I found it was at Recob Target Shop in Prairie Du Sac and from Wisconsin Cartridge in Friendship before that. It is no longer available from those sources. I am not selling any of what I have.

I still have WMR and H450 in stock.

I cannot ship powder.

However, if any of you get to the Southern California area, I'm sure it will still be waiting here for you.

I use WMR powder in my 330 Dakota, it is very accurate and gives me top speed with low pressures, I will shortly be trying it in a 270 WSM and a 300 Dakota. I have enough to keep me going for years to come.
