I've got a little M93 in .300 Savage I need to start working on a load for. Right now I'm planning on shooting 130 grain Hornady bullets. I've got the Hogdon data off the site but was wondering if anyone has a Hornady book that I could get some info from. IIRC IMR 3031 gets me close to 3000 fps, but the Hogdon data doesn't list 3031 for the 130 grain bullet. I just need the starting and max charge weights for IMR 3031.

Thanks!

Don't have the Hornady data but from other sources it looks like 39grains of IMR 3031 would be a good starting load. In a strong bolt action I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't go as high as 42 grains. If you get 3000fps I'd be surprised but it may be possible. beerroger

Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

I know when I went to Load Data's web site and checked the Horandy data they showed one load with IMR 3031 reaching 3000 fps. Don't know if I'll get there or not, but I was hoping to find out what the charge weights are.

I have a Rem 722 in 300 Savage.
Here is a group I shot with it a couple of years ago. The load is listed on the Target paper. I shot a better looking group with it last summer using 125 gn Speer TNT's; the first two shots went in the same hole, and the third one cut the enlarged hole from the first two opening the group up to .363.
Not bad for a rifle made in the mid 1950's.
I did no tweaking to the rifle other than cleaning it, and adjusting the trigger pull to 2 1/2 pounds. The barrel is fully bedded in the stock forend.

Man if my rifle shoots half that good I'll be doing a lot of hunting with it!
