Just curious how many of you regularly load for 40,000 CUP or 50,000 psi in the new big cases like the RUMs and Lazzeronis.

This generally shaves off 300 to 400 fps and puts the rifle in one of the standard velocity categories previously reserved for cases based on the '06 or 375 H&H. Why do this?

For me, getting good accuracy with such loads is more fun than pushing the upper limits with high load densities, and if one is really creative, you can actually burn LESS powder than the smaller case and reduce recoil by going to a faster powder with good burning characteristics.

In any event, do I have any like minded reloaders ut there?

What are your favorite loads?

So far, mine is 58 grs of XMP 5744 behind either a 225 OR 270 gr Hornady in the 375 RUM. This charge weight is exactly 4.0 CCs so its easy to assemble in the field with a Lee hand press. The 225 grainer duplicates the 35 Whelen at 2666 fps and the 270 is the same as a factory 375 H&H at 2640. Accuracy is 1.25 inches for 5 shot groups at 100 yards.

If you get a stuck bullet, pound it out with the barrel pointing down and a couple inches of oil behind the bullet. That way the bullet will not wedge in place.

SHooting reduced loads with IMR4895, I have never got a bullet to stick. And I have shot some 50% loads.

Don't forget IMR-SR4579. I have been reloading this wonderful powder for 25 years. From 222 Remington to 375 H&H. I shoot a 300 Ultramag @ 1,800 FPS with 168 Grain Nosler Competition or Sierra's and love the small groups with no blue shoulders. Shoot 50 rounds in 10 five shot groups; cleaning after each group. Gun cools groups stay small because theres no Magnum recoil headache or induced flinching. I guarantee my 10th group is smaller than any 10th group of full house loads by a wide margin and alot more fun to shoot.
