My Taylor may be going to Africa again this fall. The load I have always used is 72 gr. H4895 and a 400 gr. bullet. The Swift A frames and Hornady encapsulated solids were real winners last year in the crappy part of the Selous we hunted in. This year I want to load only the North Fork cup point solids. How much adjustment in the load will I have to do to get the 2300 ft/sec I was getting from my 400 gr. load? I think 2 gr. should do it. square shooter

Couldn't say in the Taylor, but I use the same loads for cup points as I do for the best load I have for my .470, 404, 416 and 10.75..I don't cut or add to it....I think I could easily add some powder but why, they will penitrate just as well and kill just as well with a 100 FPS in either direction... BTW, as I recall you didn't hunt the Selous, you hunted communal land adjacent to the Selous, big difference LB... I use the same load for NF cups as for woodleighs and they shoot the same at 100 yards.

Ray, don't I know it. The hunt was sold as a Selous hunt though. None the less the 416 T may be going back to Africa in Zambia this time. Using the cup point should simpfly the issue quite a bit. square shooter

Don't forget that the NF is obviously longer than the swift or hornady, i.e.: you're going to lose case capacity and that's noteworthy in the taylor.

Actually you could shoot a 350 gr. cup point and its the same length as a 400 gr. anything else...and so SD would be simular to a 400 gr. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

Lb404, So what loads did you settle on for the 10.75x68? I have a number of loads ready to test, but this rifle I just built must have a snug chamber or bore, as I am running about 2 grs. less than your gun took and 2 to 3 grs less than the data I have found.... I am shooting 380 gr. cup points, 350 Bridger fN solids, GS flat nose solids, 340 gr. Northfork SPs, and 400 gr. Woodleighs in soft and solid...Will let you know what the results are one to these days if it ever quits raining. I am having fun with the Hoffman. I have three loads for it that shoot into one hole at 50 yards and less than 1"at 100 yds. That is with my bad eyes and IRON sights. Pretty good. I have about 8 sample loadings to chrono and evaluate before I know how it does. I also bought a 1948 FN Delux rifle in 270 Win. The single C cut action is very smooth. I was thinking I would either rebore it or I could put a new barrel on it. The three step commercial barrel is a little odd. I think you could rebore it and do well. I would like a rifle I can use a scope on as well as the iron sights and this would be an exellent rifle to modify. The stock is great and the dummy rounds want to feed really well. Isn't your new 10,75x68 on a FN superme 300 action? Is it a C cut model or a later unit? I was wondering if the chamber reamer demensions were tight or is it a different versinon? There is a 10,75x68 AND a 10,75 Mauser. The cases are similar but not exactly the same. The hoffman is the 10.75 Mauseer not the 10.75x68????? .It could be that the reamer is a very tight reamer and that is the difference! Barrel to barrel variations could be responsible also. I am going to call the guy at Pacific Tool and Die and speak to him about the variations. square shooter
