I've checked Lee's and Redding's web sites as well as Brownells and Midway and can't seem to find a crimping die for the 416 Rigby. Anyone know where I can buy one?

Pathfinder will a crimping die crimp the projectile better than the crimper in the seating die??. I have strated reloading for my .416 rigby and only have fired a handful of shots but have had projectiles pushed back into the case under recoil. If it is better and you can get on to them let us know. Regards PC ------------------

The best crimping system I've found is Lee's factory crimp die. They aren't made for the 416 rigby but lee will custom make one for $25. I'd say it would be well worth it on a round like the rigby.

I looked at buying a 416 Rigby in a Ruger single shot #1, would there be any reason to crimp the bullet to be fired in a single shot rifle? Just curious. ------------------

Shane, Most bottlenecked rounds do not require a crimp when fired in a single-shot. There are two reasons for crimping: to keep the bullets from moving in or out under recoil, and to promote better powder ignition as in a .44mag. George ------------------

No need to crimp single shots or doubles unless they shoot better with a crimp at least with a bit of care it isn't necesary... Mostly I turn the resizer button down about 4 thousands and use a bulky powder that near fills the case to the neck-shoulder junction or a bit beyond. On some big bores that I use to hunt the bad stuff, I will add a very light crimp to the above..It does not take much of a crimp to stop bullet problems, the very slightest will get the job done...I use my regular bullet seating die to crimp. ------------------

Thanks for the input guys. I will contact Lee and order a crimp die just to try it and let you all know how I make out. Ray I will also try your suggestion. I think the other questions were answered as well.
