All good information, but I get really pissed when all these bullet testers don't use the best bullet on the market today, the North Fork. I guess they feel that the larger commercial companys are paying their bills, and perhaps they are. It seems to me if they were giving information about the best, they would at least shoot the best. bewildered sofa shame Good shooting.

The "best" bullet may be North Fork, but not in my gun. 180 gr 30 cal shot so poorly I left them home from the last trip.

Terry Blauwkamp ----- My .300 Winnie shoots the 180 grain Nosler Partition into one hole when I do my part, and has for 30 years. The North Fork shoots .5 groups at essentially the same speeds. For game in North America I would shoot the same old load with the Nosler Partition, but if I were to take the rifle to Africa I would certainly use the North Fork and probably go to the 200 grainer which does the same as the 180. I still shoot a lot of other bullets besides the North Forks, but usually the North Forks win the accuracy contest, and besides the Barnes X's nothing I have ever shot is as tough as the North Fork. ----- I have recovered three of my own North Forks from a Kongoni, a buffalo and a cow Elk. The Buffalo bullet, a .416 Rem of 370 grains was a perfect mushroom after traversing from the last rib and lodging where the first rib attachs to the neck bone. It was 99.1% of it's original weight. The Kongoni bullet from a .358 STA of 270 grains was in the low to med 90's percent of it's original weight. The Cow Elk bullet was in the mid to high 80's percent of its original weight after passing through a Bull's shoulders at 125 yards then passing into the Cow's head 20 yards beyond (she was bedded underneath a juniper and unsighted to the shooter). The shooter was my son using one of my .358 STA's with a 270 grain bulletat 2850 fps. ----- I loaded for a buddy who took a Bull Elk at 418 yards using a .300 Ultra mag with two 200 grain North Forks and both were very high in weight retention. ----- I understand that they will not shoot in everyones rifles the same, but for me they are the first I try now when shooting something new, if I am working up a hunting load. wave Good shooting.

Northforks are wonderful. I'm sure they can't shoot perfect in every gun without some load work but if they do shoot I don't think there is a more consistant, tough bullet out there.
I recovered a bullet from the bone on the "off shoulder" of a moose this fall. I think it lost a whopping 1-2% of it's original wt and looked just like the Northfork pictures on the iternet. I'm sure someone will chime in and complain about the price but that would be a joke to do it....they aren't a plinking bullet.
In relation to the cost of a big game hunt they are the cheapest component you can buy for insurance on "tough shots".

like all premium bullets they are high in price and high because the jackets are machined. They are also worth every cent!

Price.... wait until the new prices take effect because of the high copper market.

I agree, I just bought a couple of boxes more. They are expensive and I don't use them for everything. But by God I like 'em and when you need a tough, accurate bullet, I don't think there's anything better
