How do you determine how much to trim your cases? I know that in the nosler book it says the aol for 223 is 1.760". When measuring my brass I find they are all over the place, some as short as 1.750". How short is to short, what are the pros and cons or what is the standard?

Thanks in advance

A lot depends on your chamber. If you are shooting for accuracy I would trim to 1.75 and you will probably have to trim every third shot or so depending on your dies, chamber and how hot you are loading. Having the same length case will give you the same friction and tension on your bullet which will give you a less spread in velocity and that is more step in the direction of smaller groups. Flat base bullets are more accurate under 300 yards and boat tail will preform better past that. Good Luck

Why are flat-based bullets more accurate under 300 yards?
