I can't find any Ramshot Big Game or TAC and looking online shows almost all Western Powders, both Ramshot and Accurate "Out of stock"
I talked to a small OEM ammo guy the other day and he said that he simply can't get pistol powder.

This has been going on for 1.5-2 years now. Nothing new.
Check PowderValley, Grag and son, Wiedeners, Midsouth, etc.
Do you have Cabela's, Sportsman's Warehouse, or Bass Pro Shop in area?
Do you know of local clubs that might have reloaders that you can contact?

And, when you can find some, it's outrageously priced. Frowner Found some Bullseye the other day - $46/lb!!
The same place has an 8# canister of Unique for $265. Should I grab it because they have it, knowing I'm getting gouged, or.. Confused

Keep an eye on 2 websites. www.3rdgss and www.powdervalleyinc
Today 3rdgss had Unique and RL 15. They still have some rl19 and rl22
They come up with powder on a fairly regular basis but you have to check the website every day. Plus they are reasonable on their pricing.

I hear tell some TAC will be coming in at the bigger suppliers in the nx couple of weeks. I got on back order list at GRAF and my number is 496, so I don't expect to get any this time. I'm on the call list at several more.

Ya know, I believe most our powder is shipped in from overseas, then resold under various names. The people above Cabelas, Bass Pro, and all the big sellers can't get it in either. Supposed to get worse in 2014 than anything we have seen before. Get it while you can folks.

Why is this happening? (it really irks me...I gave away 400 pounds of powders 3 years ago, not wanting to carry it through Kalifornia on my way to AZ from OR. Figured I didn't need all those 30 or 40 kinds of powders and could easily replace the stuff I DO need....like AA 1680.

Luckily I hung onto about 40 pounds of French powders pretty much duplicating IMR 3031, 4064, 4350, and 4831.

Why aren't more US wholesalers/retailers doing agreements with more foreign manufacturers? I'm sure they would be happy to sell to us...

All people will say is that "you are buying it all" meaning us shooters.
I have a hard time thinking that is completely true. Somewhere Production, has to have been hampered or supply artificially drained by non-civilian buyers.

Places like Western are not able to get it shipped in from Europe; not like they ain't trying from what I keep hearing. Now just imagine living in Alaska, no powder available at any store. When you find a place that does have several varieties, you have to buy 100 lbs in order to meet requirements to ship on the barge to Ak; 100 lbs costs $229 on barge to Seward. It's not that difficult finding reloading friends who want 30 lbs of powder also. What's tough is convincing them to take what the supplier has outta fear it will only get worse.

Who knows why this all is going on; leaves one wondering doesn't it?

It can get worse > Oh no.

Yes I know it can . There hasn't been any real supply of anything in 2 years . If you know who's get in again . . . . well I don't want to even think about it .

I was in Bruno's Shooting supplies the other day and found an 8 lb keg of H4831! Hadn't seen one in a couple of years. Cost me $198, but you buy it when you can find it. They had a lot different powders so it may be a place to check.

I was searching for powder suitable for use in my 45 ACP for a couple of weeks before I found 6 pounds today online.
Generally speaking the slower the burn rate of the powder the easier it is to find. Standard stuff like 4064, 4350, 4831 and slower is easier to find every day.
Think for a minute about all the handgun ammo starting to fill the shelves as well as .223's. Most of this stuff requires faster powder and this is eating up a lot of supplies before reloaders can get ahold of it. A company can make more money selling ammo than they can powder so obviously they are at the top of the food chain to get the faster burning powders before we can.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
