Let me tell you about there customer service. I bought a 4lb container of Herco and a 4lb container of Power pistol and a 8lbs of 2230-C about a month ago from Natchez. I seen on there web site I could use Herco for 38 specials. So I tried a load that was about a grain away from max with a 125gr. JHP. It started out ok but then felt like the powder charge was light on some loads. I dont have a good powder measure just a crappy one made by Lee, but it works ok. Then it happened, a stuck bullet in the barrel. Home I went pissed off. I reloaded again and carefully inspected 100% each powder charge. Same thing Stuck bullet in the barrel. Next I up the charge to MAX and the loads just did not feel right to me. I next tried New Brass New Primers to eliminate those variables. Another stuck bullet and by this time I was HOT. I called Alliant first to see what could be done about it. Thinking they would not believe me or want to help a little guy out.

It seemed my suspicions were true, they did not believe I was having this kind of problems. They asked for me to send in samples of the loaded rounds. I did send them the rest of the box I did not shoot the last day. After about a week I called them and they told me they did not receive them yet. I am not feeling to good by this point. A week again went by and I called back, yes they got them and the Lab has them now he told me.

Another two weeks went by before I had to call THEM back and I was told the lab did find a problem with the pressure begin very low. GREAT I thought it was a problem with the powder. I told them I was not going to use that powder again and I would like them to replace it. He asked me if I would like a can of Unique instead. I said sure Unique is good for everything. Then two days later he calls and said his boss has to approve it. I call back 3 days later and he tells me the lab wants to do more testing NOW!!! I am very pissed and hot by now ready to give up on this company and say F them. He calls me back 4-5 days later and says its been approved and I will get my 4lbs of Unique.

A week later I received 4 1b cans of Unique from Alliant just like they said. They did stand up to the plate and helped out a consumer with a problem. Took longer than what I would have thought, but the results are the same a happy customer. I will continue to buy there products.

Sounds cool. I have called them several times, and always when I ask to speak to an engineer, they will put me through and I get to speak to the guys in the lab. Always nice, always listen and not always give me the answers I want to hear.

I am sure they had other jobs in front of yours, but they got to it. Good things come to those who wait.

Good work crimp_me. Your post demonstrates the value of knowing how to deal with customer service departments. Too many people either don't call and spread the bad word or they get so pissed that the company dismisses them as an impossible nutcase. Looks like you stuck to the middle ground and got results.

Too bad they didn't find, or didn't share, any problems with the powder/loads. Thanks for sharing, good to know that Alliant is a reasonable company to deal with.

Hey Crimp, Did they ask you to return "all" of that Powder?

I had offered to send back the rest of the powder. They told me it was illegal for a customer to mail gun powder.
I just tried some of the Herco in my 44 special and I am having better results.

Hey Crimp, Glad to hear it is working in your 44Spl.

Seems strange that if they really thought there was a "Pressure Problem" that they didn't ask you to dump it out in the yard though. It makes right good fertilizer if you accidentally pour a couple of different powders together.

They replaced two pounds of RL22 for me a couple or so years ago. That was when they had the particular lot that was a little hot. I think they still make mention of it on their website. Their customer service was great to deal with. But, you know, I do have one lingering question: they didn't ask me to prove in any way, shape, form or fashion that I actually had purchased RL22. They just took my word over the phone that I had 2lbs of the bad lot. I'm not sure I'd do business that way.
