Need some help with a good load for the 257 Roberts, not the improved, with 100 to 117 gr bullets. Any suggestions?

<JimF>I've owned and shot two .257R pretty extensively. Both were partial to the old H 4831. I made an effort to get WW + P cases because I thought at the time that they were stronger. I have not owned one now for over 12 years so I can't say what the case situation is now.
If you use H 4831 (not IMR 4831) you could start with about 45 gr./100's and 43 gr./117 and work up from there. I used magnum primers in mine because I had several thousand on hand, but they are not necessary.
If H 4831 does not appeal to you, IMR 4350 is known as an excellent performer in the Roberts.
Have fun...you'll love the Roberts

<BigBores>I have had better luck with IMR 4064 than IMR 4350 in the regular Roberts, I'm still waiting to play with my Ackley Roberts so don't know it as well.

MARK H. YOUNGIf you are looking for data for 117 gr. why not go to the 120 NP? The following is a wonderful load and if you really look at the ballistics the 25-06 doesn't beat it by that much.
120gr. NP
48gr. RL-22
R-P cases
Fed 210M primers
2.82in. OAL
This load gives a chronographed 2850fps in 22in.
barrel and MOA accuracy.
I've shot this load a lot over the last ten years and am still using the original cases with no primer pocket stretching.
What more could you want from a zero recoiling rifle???
