Hi 1Lonewolf: Ive been shooting 7 mm Mausers in the last 12 years, mainly reloads, and my best load has been since there one that was recomended in a magazine called HUNTING seven or eigth years ago: 42.5 grains of IMR 3031 after a Hornady 139 grains Boat Tail Soft Point, giving about 2750 fps (+/-). It flies nicely, no excessive recoil, and so accurate that has bested factory match loads in 300 mts ranges. Greetings.

One of the best loads I have found is 42 gr of IMR 4320 with the 162 gr Hornady. That gives about 2640fps from my rifle. Good Hunting ------------------

My old fave was 50.0 grains IMR 4350 under any bullet from 160 to 175 grains. Seat out as far as the magazine will allow. This load and Sierra Matchking 162 gr bullets once gave a 2.9" group for 5 at 300 yds with my old Ruger 77R. This is a max load beyond book values so proceed with caution!!!!

The only powder I use in my 7x57's is H414 and the book max is usually very underloaded in most of the rifles I have loaded for..this powder will get up to 200 to 300 FPS more in a long throated rifle..It is accurate in all my rifles. If your rifle does not have the long throat then book max is probably correct, then to some books allow a buffer for the older poor quality rifles in this caliber.... ------------------

140 gr. Partition with Varget, and 160 gr. Partition with H4350. Both consistent and accurate combinations in a 9.5 twist barrel.
