At one time, I thought there was available reloading software that would allow one to enter a particular powder with a particular cartridge case and bullet weight and it would give you the recommended powder charge. I'm looking for software that would help me decide on loads using powders not generally used in a particular cartridge.

If this software is still produced and someone knows where it can be purchased, I would appreciate information regarding this.

I use Quickload, that is a very good software, useful and quite reliable; here is the email of the inventor:

Anyway there are several sources for it in the US. You can try on Google.

Thanks for the replies.

Quickload looks like it might do what I want it to do but $150 seems a little steep.

I'm wanting to try different powders than what are listed in loading manuals for the 460 S&W Magnum. The 460 S&W Magnum is a big straignt walled case and yet all of the manuals only list what are generally thought of as handgun powders for it.

Software would be the easiest way to do it but I have managed, with extrapolation, to come up woth some starting loads on my own. I guess, until some cheaper software becomes available, I'll just concoct my own recipies.

I have loadtech but I wouldn't recommend it.

I have heard that programs can have trouble with the straight wall cases.

asdf gave me this link covers the programs pretty well.

It seems a lot but if you compare what QL does to the additional benefit of Vista over Windows2000, it is a steal. I never regretted the purchase of this unique software and use it a lot. Besides, you support an inventor and creative mind whereas spending money on Micro$oft just makes Bill Gates a little richer.
