Went to reload yesterday and my Hornady Unique sizing lube was very hard. Anyone know of a way to soften it? Who know how old this is.

As usual just my $.02

I would imagine standing the tub in some hot water would soften it, not boiling water as that will semi melt the plastic tub.

Personally I would go to using Redding Imperial Sizing Die Wax as this always stays the same consistency and makes case sizing, even the large nitro express cases, very easy. You do not use much and if used properly eliminates stuck cases in sizing dies.

I did order some Imperial. I'm just too cheap to toss a container that is 75% full without trying to save it. Wink

That is the only lube I use, and I once had a tub turn brown and hard. I threw it away.....

After 12 years of sitting around it turns hard. Mice will still eat it though.

well mine was older than 12 years. I took a spoon and peeled off the top 1/4" and the remaining half
tub looks and feels fine.

I did take the hard stuff and nuked it for 15sec. got softer but didn't feel smooth.

I have Imperial wax and Unique on the way.

Sooooo . . . if I sit around for 12 years, will it turn hard? (I'll risk the mice.)

Asking for a friend . . . Eeker sofa
