A stiff but safe load in 6 or7 243s I've shot it in is : 100gr. Sierra F.B. 43grs. / IMR4350 Rem. brass / CCi #200 This wil give over 3000fps. out of a 22in. barrel.

Rich, I shot the same load as Pedro but with rem primers. After a couple years the head space went and the locking lugs put dimples in the action ramps. The first indication was hard bolt lift. I shot a lot of these loads through my rifle maybe 400 or 500 hundred before it went. It was a commercial mauser. I have seen two rifles, Remingtons to be exact that had the brass extruded back around the bolt. one was using 100gr and 105gr bullets, imr 4350 the other was using max loads as well but with lighter bullets. About like some of the others, 42 grains of IMR 4350. If that doesn't work, 42 grains of H414 will. A shot not taken is always a miss

Thus far 100gr sierra BTSP under 44gr of IMR 7828SSC for 3,000fps out of my 26" 9twist. Same bullet under max load of RL19 out of my 19" moderated remington for 2,800fps

In my ex-wifes rifle ( my son shoots it now) 41 grains of IMR-4350 and a Sierra 100 grain bullet (flat base or BT) in WW brass and CCI primer produces sub MOA from a lightweight 20" barreled rifle that is bone stock. She took 2 whitetail bucks and an Antelope buck with it all one shot kills one bullet recovered.

Slower powder is better with the 100's in a .243. I use 46 grains of surplus 4831 (nearly as slow as 7828) under a Nosler Solid Base for nearly 3150 fps out of my 23" Sako, and yes, it has an unusually "fast" barrel. But I find it is no trick to get at least 3000 fps out of nearly any .243/100 so long as an appropriately slow powder is chosen. Other good choices would include IMR 7828 and RL-22. The 4350's are marginally too fast for the heavy 100 grain bullet in this round. They start to shine with 70-85 grain bullets.

I am getting excellent accuracy and chronographed 3050 fps out of a 22" barrel Stevens model 200 with the 95 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip, Remington cases, 42.3 gr of Accurate Data 86, and CCI-200 primers. Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.
