What is the difference between Remington 1 1/2 small pistol primers and their 5 1/2 small pistol primers? Is one a magnum small pistol primer? If yes, which one?

Looked on Remington's web site and could not find any info other than what types of primers they make.

I've found a couple of catalogs that refer to the 5 1/2 as a magnum primer for small pistol. Other references don't delineate.

I asked the same question in a gunshop the other day! (And I run a gunshop) I got 1000 of the 1 1/2's and 1000 of the 5 1/2's last Tuesday and the best answer I've gotten to the question is, "4"!! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin GHD

Kind of why I was asking. Happened across a store that had about 8,000 Remington pistol primers on the shelf, both 1 1/2 and 5 1/2. Could not find anything on the boxes to state a difference. Bought a 1000 of the 1 1/2 for my son to load his 9mm. Good price, only $32 a thousand.

Maybe should have bought more. Now if they can only get some large pistol and small rifle primers.

Small pistol mag primers act like .7 gr more pressure, but not as much more velocity.
