Good old IMR 4064 is a fine propellant for reduced loads in the 375 RUM with the 270 gr Hornady SP. In my 26 inch bbl, 80 grs of the stuff chronos 2840 fps, plus or minus 19 fps.

Now this is 4850 FPE, and pretty much what you should get from a case that held exactly 80 grs of powder, but at a load density of only 76%. It sets the new record in my lab. There are no signs of high pressure.

Normally one looses efficiency in a big case at this density, but the RUM is extracting as much energy from this load as it would in a smaller case giving 100% load density.

Heck Sabot that is not that much of a reduced load.

I was thinking more like the Hornady 220gn FP at 2200fps. Now that would be a reduced load!

Gents,
use the hornady 225 SP rather than the 220s. The 225 was designed for being a highspeed round, for light loads in the various 375 mag... it was actually custom built for the 376 steyr.

the 220 are meant for far lower impact speeds
